Economic and Real-Estate Indicators Num. 17

Here is the 17th issue of our GIX Report where we share the reality of the Spanish economy and real-estate sector every month.

Year to date, the economic activity has received news that call for attention and, even if some are external events, affect all developed countries. We’re mainly referring to the inflation, the rises in energy costs and the Russia-Ukraine war, which also affects the end prices of oil byproducts and gas. Although Spain imports most of these from Algeria, it still has a strong impact overall. The CPI is alarming.

The good news comes from the purchasing managers index that does not seem to fall according to February data. Financial markets have not yet registered significant drops, which would otherwise affect the funding of listed companies. 12-month Euribor interest rates –main benchmark for mortgage loans– are showing small hikes, while 10-year bonds act as expected.

As for the real-estate sector, especially the residential segment, we continue to see healthy data in housing sales and completion of building work, supported by the number of valuations conducted and mortgage loans granted.
