Economic and Real Estate Sector Indicators No. 70

September 2026

Over 50 indicators of the Spanish economy and real-estate sector

Here is the 70th issue of our GIX Report where we share the reality of the Spanish economy and real-estate sector every month.

The Spanish economy continues to show strong growth figures, as noted in the previous report based on the preliminary data from the Quarterly National Accounts published by the INE. In September, following the summer months, the ECB is likely to review interest rates as inflation is spiralling out of control.

The geopolitical situation is once again fraught with significant uncertainties, such as the standoff between Iran and the US following the resumption of air strikes, which is jeopardising the flow of crude oil through the Strait of Hormuz and, consequently, causing this supply disruption to affect virtually all final consumer goods – particularly as winter approaches – depending on how gas and electricity prices develop, which will impact the economy’s performance.

Financial markets are generally performing well, with the IBEX at record highs of 20,000 points. The 12-month Euribor and the yield on the 10-year government bond have been rising over the last six months, with potential implications for mortgage loans as the main source of financing for house purchases.

The residential property sector shows no significant cyclical changes; prices are rising, whilst the number of property sales is falling.
