Economic and Real-Estate Indicators Num. 22

SEPTEMBER 2022

Over 50 indicators of the Spanish economy and real-estate sector

Here is the 22nd issue of our GIX Report where we share the reality of the Spanish economy and real-estate sector every month.

The macroeconomic situation continues to experience the same level of uncertainty as it did one month ago. Both the Consumer Confidence Indicator and the Retail Confidence Indicator are showing levels that are lower than or close to neutral (50). Car registrations fell in July compared to the same period in 2021 and the increases in prices, although somewhat lower, continues due to the ongoing nature of the tension and source of the increases.

The main Euribor figures, as the leading benchmark for variable rate mortgages, saw increases each month as a result of the actions taken by the European Central Bank’s monetary authority. In the short term these measures will have less of an impact on the market but there will be changes in the medium and long term.

Taking into account all the information flooding the media, the real-estate sector does not seem to be threatened by rate rises in the short to medium term. Real rates continue to be in negative territory and the weakness of the euro in the currency markets is encouraging investment in real-estate in Spain.
