Over 50 indicators of the Spanish economy and real-estate sector

Here is the 46th issue of our GIX Report where we share the reality of the Spanish economy and real-estate sector every month.

The Spanish economy, as published by the INE last month, maintains a certain strength so far this year with a year-on-year increase in real terms of 2.9% and is likely to close the year with figures close to 2.5%, being the economy that shows the highest growth, in general.

Inflation, according to provisional data for August, stood at 2.2%, indicating an increasingly close approximation to the target set by the ECB for its monetary policy strategy, although the underlying rate was 2.7%, which may indicate that unprocessed food and energy may push down the general index.

Other indicators such as the Services Purchasing Managers’ Index has seen its July figure reduced by 2.9 points.

The general trend in the evolution of sales prices and rents in the residential segment and, especially in the main provinces of Spain, is an increase in both new and second-hand construction. With regard to renting, and as a consequence of the new ‘Housing Law’ and the current wage situation, there is a shift from the classic long-term rental modality to shorter durations.
